Art: Cadets

Petlar: Default
Title: Cadets
Rating: G
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine
Summary: For sotto_voice & lerabird: "He finds them wrapped up in each other. It’s nothing particularly scandalous; they’re sitting on the bed with Blaine’s head resting on Kurt’s shoulder, and they’re talking."
Warnings: Star Trek Crossover
A/N: lerabird requested a crossover pic and then, while I was deciding which one to draw tonight, I read sotto_voice's fantastic fic (quoted above). Since my love for Star Trek knows no bounds, this pic came about. :)

Agreed. And I see that they're wearing nu!Trek uniforms. Did you like the new movie?

To my great surprise, I really liked the movie.

The Spock/Uhura pairing bugged me a little (I always shipped her with Scotty, esp. after the movies), but I think they handled it well. Bones, though, was fantastic. Of course, it can't top TOS in my book. :)

P.S. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you!! My computer crashed and I've been stuck without internet for the past few weeks. :(

No problem! Unexpected computer problems suck. D:

See, watching the new movie is what finally got me into the show. I'd seen TNG as a kid because my parents watched it and I guess I just didn't know what I was missing out on until the movie opened my eyes! I think just the fact that it was able to spawn a whole new generation of Star Trek fans means it was beyond successful! And once I gained enough footing to be able to compare the two I was able to fully appreciate the visual aspect of the new movie. I deeply enjoy the 60s special effects, but they're just too funny. XD

That's what I love about the movie; it really got a whole bunch of people into the Star Trek franchise. Before it came out, none of my friends were interested and now they get a lot of the references I make.

Nothing can top bad 60s special effects, their cheesiness makes them fantastic. :)

It really did! During the summer it came out I managed to get all of my friends into it too and we went to see it in theaters a lot. TBH, I saw it nine times in theaters... and then I went and watched the original series. :D So, I guess, my group of friends kinda slid into it and now we make Star Trek references all the time!

*dies* OH MY GOD I WANT TO MAKE LOVE TO YOUR FINGERS AND TOES

I love this!! I wish Starfleet Academy had happened, and there were adorable singing gay boys (like the Top Gun You Lost that Loving Feeling scene) in it, I wish they make a movie and cast our guys!! I watch Trek before I go to sleep every night, and lately, I've been writing x-overs in my drowsy, drowsy head. I just may have to put them down on paper...

*blushes* Why, thank you!!

Do you watch the movie or the show(s)? I tend to watch Next Gen. when I'm getting sleepy, because I keep getting too involved with TOS even though I've seen it way too many times. :)

Put them down on paper - those ideas are bound to be fantastic!

Ooooo I could never get into TOS. There's a handful of eps I like, but mostly, it's too "Holy transwarp conduit, Batman!" for me. :/ I've seen most of the movies, but I wouldnt' say they thrll me.

I was a major TNG girl when it was on in the 90s. I mean, if youwere a trekkie, it was Picard or get out, ykno? I watched all the serieses, was even big in VOY fandom, and I just recently enjoyed ENT rather a lot. But lately it's all about hte DS9. It's just such an engaging, complex, shades of grey world. I feel like there's always more to find and discover with DS9. ENT had that potential, but it just ended up a mess.

I am writing the xover I told you about! Little by little, b/c I'm so busy and my job is so exhausting. Every evening I write on it a little more. I need to find the proper venue to wedge in Ensign Blaine and Lts. Wes and David doing this song on the holodeck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjcVZZOCx44

Oh! I replied from my inbox, I thought you were the fanfic writer. Well. I told her I'm writing a first assignment piece that's sorta an answer piece to hers. It's set during the Dominion war, and has a war bride-y 40s feel. Hence the song. Cuz, like, I figure the way Vic Damone and 60s spy holonovels were popular during the Dominion war, it's not too far a stretch that Kurt would write a holoprogram they can dance to in the 1940s, with a big band n all.

I love the cheesy-ness of old shows like TOS, so it never bothered me much (some of the movies, I admit, are pretty bad). I feel like I missed out because I watched everything in reruns via internet, so I never got into TNG as much as some friends of mind. I think it's because people get attached to the first Trek series they watch?

I just started watching DS9, and I'm really enjoying it! I've seen VOY, and it was okay, but definitely not my favorite. Is ENT worth watching, even though it ends in a mess?

I adore the song Wes and David are singing, and I really like the idea of Kurt wiring a 1940s holoprogram - I can definitely see Kurt doing that. :)

Glad to hear from you!

I liked ENT, tho it had its problems. S1 is pretty rocky, some eps are just boring. but it's the 'hip' trek, it's more relatable, i think. It's got a cool mytharc and it's got more of an overarching plot, not as much standalone stories. There's some good angst with Trip and T'Pol, I think their story is a great love story. I think it's worth it, but don't buy it, and don't feel bad about skipping an ep, esp in the first 1/2.

It's weird when you watch tv on the internet, as opposed to the old way of waiting for episodes over years. Glee is theo nly show I watch week by week. I reemmber the old hype with X Files and Buffy, it really does make the show more enjoyable when you draw it out. But it's also easy to lose interest or for eps to not live up to the buildup. ENT is a series that's best watched all at once, b/c it's so convoluted.

Thanks for the info. - I'll have to find it online and watch over a few weekends; it's the only time I have free time nowadays. I definitely agree with you about drawing shows out: I love that it builds up excitement for each episode, but some series just can't keep my interest (which is why I've waited for the end of Smallville and watched the whole season at once over the past few years).

It's not crazy at all - I'm kind of in love with those outfits! I'm definitely going to draw this asap, even though I might have to wait until after finals are over. :)

I'm so torn about who to cast as who (I'm leaning towards the Amber character as Kurt, only because he seems to like military-style clothes), but maybe I should see the movie first? I wanted to watch it when it came out, but RL got in the way....is it good?

Maybe it's one of those movies that needs a rewatch to understand? It looked like the movie had a lot of potential from the trailers, but that's not much to go off of. I'll definitely have to rent it once it comes out then, esp. if the overall design looks good. I can tolerate sub-par movies if they look pretty enough to distract me from the plot. :)

If anything, I'll definitely try to have Blaine and Kurt in the picture - I can't resist the temptation to draw them showing that much skin.

It'll also help me practice drawing women, which I think I'm pretty bad at (they always look like men in drag). Not sure which ones to draw though; I guess I'll have to see the movie and hope it inspires me.

Oh god! I feel like such a bitch! I totally got lost in the internet the week you put this up or somethin, but I never saw it! I've been going through back-log emails and found it though... and OH MY GOD! This is amazing! I can't even! Those cadet uniforms are way sexier than they should ever be and putting my two favorite boys in them? Even better!

I love Blaine's grin and how they're wrapped so tightly together. It's just adorable. Lovelovelove this! Thank you so much! My two favorite fandoms meeting... *happy puddle of goo*

No, that's perfectly okay! My computer crashed a few days after I posted this, so I didn't even notice. (Going without internet for so long was horrible.)

Thank You! I'm SO glad you like it!

I love the new movie outfit designs; they're a great improvement over the old series. Though, I was a little nervous putting them both in red shirts, lol. :)
